After living more than twenty years in the dreary Pacific Northwest climate, my friend Carol and I headed to the Caymans. This trip proved to be different than any other, as it marked the start of a new phase of my life underwater. With pristine water, beautiful fish, and intricate coral at my fingertips, I officially caught the scuba diving bug. As I reveled in the glorious undersea world and one dive turned into several hundred, I had no idea that my relatively calm life would soon be tossed upside down while on a trip to Kona, Hawaii. The excursion began so innocently. I spotted an unusual rock during a dive in Kona, stuck it in my pocket, and forgot about it until we returned home. Suddenly, strange events began to occur as I handled my "special rock" and shared it with others. Perplexed, I began researching the rock-not knowing that very soon, Carol and I would be running for our lives, pursued by higher-ups at a large pharmaceutical company who wanted what we had and were willing to do everything in their power to acquire it. This fast-paced, deep-sea adventure shares the story of an intriguing find from Hawaiian waters and how it changed my life forever.

Robin CorakI found this book to be a very captivating read from start to finish. The author has a way of utilizing details so as to enhance character development and stage the setting in a way that makes you feel as if you know the characters and the city of Federal Way well. The plot is suspenseful. While it has an element of science fiction/fantasy it is grounded in enough potential reality for the reader to be invested in the story. The idea of finding a rock that heals all of one’s ailments is intriguing and I can certainly understand how a pharmaceutical company would do anything to get their hands on such an item! The description of the underwater terrain is beautiful and vivid. Excitement builds and abounds from Gini’s initial finding of the rock right up to the very last pages of the book. Towards the end I found myself rapidly tearing through the pages to find out how the story ends. I would recommend this book to any reader looking for a thrilling, action packed adventure story.

Danger from Fifty Feet Below Dini Duclos 9781480804067 Books Reviews
I enjoyed reading a book that focused on my city of Federal Way and also captivated the underwater world of diving. It was easy to read and fun to explore with the author a sense of adventure.
It is written in a lively manner and so rich in detail it's almost as if I know she and Carol.
Danger from Fifty Feet Below is a fun and highly interesting read. The story is an adventure mystery. It follows the experiences of Gini, the CEO of a community action network, with a passion for diving. Her love of diving leads her to pursue the goal of becoming a Master Diver. She works to build up dive hours and on a dive in Hawaii, notices an odd rock. She picks up and brings home. Warning, warning Will Robinson! The rock soon begins to exhibit a powerful influence over those who come into contact with it. Word gets out and soon bad guys creep out from under their nasty rocks. Their underhanded efforts to acquire the rock turns Gini’s life upside down and poses an ominous threat to the public at large.
I have snorkeled in the ocean a few times, but sadly it triggers claustrophobia. The underwater world is so beautiful and I’ve often wished it were possible to go back. The author of this book makes that possible without the claustrophobia. Duclos’ descriptions of the underwater terrain and sea life are interesting and wonderful. It was also fascinating to read about Gini’s quest to become a Master Diver and what all that entails. My book club read the book on my recommendation and also enjoyed it very much!
Good info re diving, but i didn't care for the supernatural aspect of the story.
Dini Duclos is an amazing, brilliant, caring person and does so much for others, but her book could definitely use some editing, spell checking, etc.
I hope she brings out another improved edition, which would better reflect her worth.
